We know that fovea is the region where the sensitivity is
very high, i.e. all varieties and shades of colors are perceived. As we move away from the fovea the colors are perceived
but the slight variations in it are suppressed. What I mean by this is, suppose you consider an object with all shades of
blue and view it such that its image falls somewhere beside the fovea you will only be able to say that its blue in color
but, what all shades of blue will not be answered. This kind of a behavior is observed because we are only interested in the
image falling on the fovea and not in it’s surrounding. Our brain processes fully only that part of the image that falls
on the fovea. The surrounding region is only required in performing a search, a search for our favorite color, object, etc.
